Summary: Offering a Discount on a service is a way to quickly draw in potential customers. When a customer hears  that they can save some money on the service they are looking for, a discount is likely to 1) bring their attention to you or 2) if you have a really good customer you always give discount to.  ServiceBox provides this ability to put a discount on a quote or invoice for your customers. How can you use this feature will be explained below.

Activate this Feature: First step would be to activate this feature in your software.

To activate Discounts, Go to the "Settings" of your site, accessed by the drop down menu by the arrow beside your logged in User Name.  Your then are on the Plan tab, select the blue-coloured Features section> Quotes/invoices sub-section on the page > Check off where it says discounts and click Save at the bottom of the page.

Decide Which "User" in ServiceBox by it's "Role" definition is allowed to use the Discount feature:

A "User" in ServiceBox is any employee, no matter their job ("Role") at the company, who logs in to your ServiceBox site.

A "Role" is defined by the security access that is set up for them, to access only those parts of the site you need them in.  The access they are given is so that they are not over-whelmed by all that the ServiceBox site is able to do - given their defined job/"Role"/activity in the company.  A "Role" may be as specific so that only one "User" may have that "Role", or be of a generalized nature that many employees may share the same "Role".  (You will need to work with ServiceBox Customer Service to change security for each Role.)

As a admin you have decide whether you want this feature to 'edit Discounts on quote/invoice' to be turned on for any of your user roles.

How to Apply Percentage Discount : Edit your Quote/Invoice and make sure your status is set to 'DRAFT' because that's the only status that can be edited. Go to the calculator tab on your Quote and for an Invoice you can find this field under Invoice info page. Go ahead, enter a percentage into the 'Discount %' field, for how much you would like to discount the entire Quote/Invoice by.

The discount will be displayed as an amount in the Quote/Invoice subtotal.

Apply a percentage discount to an individual Price Item: We have found that there has been a need for customers to be able to have different prices for individual items in ServiceBox.  We have developed a feature that we call Pricebook that will allow you to create custom price lists - specific for any group or individual customer.  To know more you may read our article on Pricebooks here:    https://jobbox.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/19000069834-user-guide-pricebook-getting-started-0013

Note: This is just a work around:

Include a fixed-amount Discount on your Quote/Invoice: If you would like to discount a quote/invoice by a fixed-amount, you can use this workaround :

1. Add a Line item in your Quote/invoice item Category "Other" (or another one)- may be named 'Discount'.

2. Enter a value into Unit Price field, e.g. -$100.

This negative value will then be subtracted from the invoice/Quote total.

How will discounts be display on printout : Discounts will be displayed in printouts same as for quote/invoice subtotal.

Though, if discount field is blank in quote/invoice, it won't display discount field in your printouts.
