Understanding Event Changes in ServiceBox:

When managing schedules in ServiceBox, users often need to make adjustments to specific events. A common question that arises is why changing an event’s user, title, or description impacts all future occurrences of that event, even when the option "Change Just This Event" is selected. This article explains the reasoning behind this behavior and how to manage event changes effectively.

 Why Does This Happen?

In ServiceBox, when an event is initially scheduled for a user, it creates a series of linked events if it’s set to recur. These linked events share common attributes like the user, title, and description. If you attempt to modify any of these attributes—regardless of whether you choose to change just the specific event or the entire series—ServiceBox updates all events in the series. This is because these attributes are treated as fundamental properties that define the entire series.

Not a Bug, But a Feature

It’s important to clarify that this behavior is not a bug. ServiceBox is designed this way to ensure consistency and reduce the risk of discrepancies between events in a series. When you change a fundamental property like the user, title, or description, ServiceBox assumes that this change should apply uniformly across all related events.

What If You Need to Change Just One Event?

If you intend to modify only one occurrence of a recurring event without affecting the others, here’s what you should do:

1. Delete the Specific Event:

   - Locate the event you wish to change. Delete this specific instance from the Scheduler.

2. Create a New Event:

   - Manually create a new event for the desired user with the updated title and description.

By deleting the original event and creating a new one, you avoid altering the entire series, ensuring that only the targeted event reflects the changes.

Summary:

ServiceBox is designed to apply changes in user, title, or description to all linked events in a series to maintain consistency. If you need to change just one event without affecting others, you’ll need to delete the specific event and manually create a new one. This approach helps you manage your schedules accurately and prevents unintended changes to recurring events.
